Jeffrey Schneider B Com

Mr Schneider has over 30 years experience in the Australian energy industry having graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1972.

In 1978 Mr Schneider joined Woodside Petroleum Limited (Woodside), working in a number of positions culminating in the role of Director – Australian Gas. He was responsible for the Sunrise gas project and Woodside’s natural gas business in eastern Australia. He was also involved in the Woodside defense of the Shell takeover bid.

In November 2002 Mr Schneider left Woodside to pursue other interests, including his appointment as a Director of Strike Oil Limited.

His responsibilities at Strike have included commercialisation of the Casino gas discovery, in the Otway Basin. Mr Schneider is the Chairman of Comet Ridge Limited.

Mr Schneider was appointed a director on 5 November 2002 and Chairman on 20 June 2003.

Mr Ashton has over 30 years experience in the Australian and international petroleum and resources industries. He joined WMC Limited (WMC) in 1974 where he held various positions in WMC’s nickel, coal and petroleum divisions including a period as Exploration Manager of the company’s Carnarvon Basin interests. From 1987 to 1991, he was responsible for establishing WMC’s US petroleum subsidiary, Greenhill Petroleum Corporation, where he served as Senior Vice President in Houston, Texas. In 1991 he returned to Australia where he held the position of Manager International New Business – Petroleum Division until his departure in 1996.

In 1997 he co-founded Strike Oil Limited with Executive Director Jim Durrant.

Mr Ashton was appointed a director on 8 May 1997.

Jim Durrant B Sc

Mr Durrant graduated with a physics degree from the University of London in 1974. He worked as a geophysicist with various seismic acquisition and processing organisations gaining extensive international experience throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Persian Gulf and South East Asia. In 1980 he joined Delhi Petroleum as a Senior Geophysicist, working in the Cooper-Eromanga province. In 1985 he moved to WMC Limited’s petroleum division. During this period he worked on WMC’s exploration and production assets in the Carnarvon Basin and the Timor Sea where he developed the Evans Shoals prospect, subsequently drilled by BHP Petroleum as a farm-in well and now considered a multi-TCF gas discovery. During this time he was appointed Chief Geophysicist, then Regional Exploration Manager.

In 1993 he left WMC and established Durrant & Associates, a petroleum exploration consultancy. The business worked on oil industry projects and counted many of Australia’s major energy companies amongst its clients. In 1997 he co-founded Strike Oil Limited with Executive Director Simon Ashton.

Mr Durant held the office of National President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia (PESA) in 1996 and 1997. He has been actively involved with the Society for many years and was awarded the PESA Meritorious Service Medal in 1998. He was a founding member of the Australian Petroleum Consultants Association, is a long time member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and has been a Council Member of the peak industry body, the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) since 2001 and Chairman of the APPEA Fiscal Committee since 2004.
Mr Durrant was appointed a director on 8 May 1997.

David Wrench B Eng (Mining) Hons

Mr Wrench graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of Sydney in 1987. He subsequently gained significant experience in precious metal, base metal and energy markets in Australia and North America. Until the end of 2004 Mr Wrench was directly involved with a number of private resource companies and project developments in his capacity as a director of the private equity arm of Macquarie Bank Limited.

Mr Wrench is currently the Managing Director of Eastern Nomad Buildings Pty Limited, a company specialising in the manufacture, hire and sale of portable and modular buildings.

Mr Wrench was appointed to the Board on 29 October 1998.

Peter Gunzburg

Mr Gunzburg has over 20 years experience as a stockbroker. He holds a Commerce Degree from University of Western Australia and has previously been a director of Resolute Limited, ASX Limited, Eyres Reed Limited and CIBC World Markets Australia Limited. He is also Chairman of Eurogold Limited (appointed on 24 September 2001), Fleetwood Corporation Limited (appointed 20 February 2002) and PieNetworks Limited (appointed 29 April 2002). He is also a Non-executive Director of Matra Petroleum plc (appointed 11 July 2006).

Mr Gunzburg was appointed to the Board on 20 October 2006.

Tim Clifton

Mr Clifton has a long association with the company having held the position of non-executive chairman of Strike Oil Limited prior to its listing in June 2004 and is currently a substantial shareholder of the company.

Mr Clifton has over 40 years mining and corporate experience as a geologist and director of companies. He was the managing director of Perilya Limited and is currently non-executive chairman of Uranium Equities Limited.

Mr Clifton was appointed to the Board on 13 August 2008.

 



Tony Brazier Company Secretary

Tony Brazier CA, ACIS

Mr Brazier joined the Company in December 2005 and was appointed Company Secretary on 30 June 2007.

Mr Brazier is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and Chartered Secretaries Australia. He has over 15 years international experience in resources, commerce and public practice, having worked for an international accounting firm for many years where he was actively involved in the audit of many resource exploration and support companies, including Hardman Resources Limited (now part of Tullow Oil plc) and Macmahon Holdings Limited. He has extensive experience in engineering, technology, and manufacturing industries, having worked for Siemens plc and Singtel Optus Limited.

In additional to his role as Company Secretary he is also the Group’s Chief Financial Officer.

Don Poynton

Don joined Strike Oil in 1997 after working for 25 years in technical and management roles with GSI, Burmah/Woodside, Mesa and WMC Resources. Don served as Exploration Manager with WMC for eight years and spent two years with WMC´s subsidiary in the USA, Greenhill Petroleum where he worked alongside the principals of Cypress E&P, the operator’s of Strike Oil’s joint venture in the USA.

Don received a BSc. Hons degree from the Australian National University in 1971 and since that time has been involved in petroleum exploration and production in most of Australia’s onshore and offshore basins and various basins of the USA.

Outside of work Don has a keen interest in the environment and is a committee member of several community groups.

 

Rob Weeden

Rob Weeden

Rob has over 25 years experience in both the mineral and petroleum industries.

Rob began work as a mine geologist in 1977 at Rosebery, Tasmania. He then moved to South Australia where he worked with Shell Australia (Metals Division) exploring for base metals. His petroleum career began in 1984 with WMC Resources Petroleum Division where he had various roles including Senior Explorationist and Regional Exploration Manager for the Canning Basin . This was followed by two years with Greenhill Petroleum - WMC´s subsidiary in the USA - where he worked on redevelopment of old fields in the Permian Basin, West Texas and offshore Louisiana in the Gulf Coast. On his return to Australia in 1993 Rob worked offshore exploration on the North West Shelf in Western Australia and then as a Petroleum Analyst for WMC´s International New Ventures mainly in South America. Rob left WMC in 1997 to join Strike Oil where he is currently Manager of Geoscience and responsible for geotechnical evaluation of Strike’s interests in the Carnarvon and Cooper Basins, Australia and the Gulf Coast, Texas, USA.

 

John Traicos

John joined Strike Oil as commercial manger in June 2007.

John is a lawyer with more than 30 years experience in legal and corporate affairs in Southern Africa and Australia.

He has acted as a corporate lawyer to several Australian resource companies and has been involved in resource projects and acquisitions in Australia, Africa and Indonesia.

John has been a director of Strike Oil during the period 2000 to 2005 and has held the positions of company secretary and commercial legal manger for Perilya Limited from 2000 to 2005 and Tanami Gold NL from 2005 to 2007
